چکیده

In Australia, Stylosanthes little leaf (StLL) phytoplasma has been detected in scabra Vogel, Arachis pintoi Krapov, Saccharum officinarum L., Carica papaya Medicago sativa and Solanum tuberosum L. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of StLL strains from S. , C. papaya, were compared share 99.93–100 % nucleotide identity. Phylogenetic comparisons between the genes other ‘ Candidatus Phytoplasma’ species indicate that represents a distinct lineage. It shares its most recent known ancestry with Ca . Phytoplasma luffae’ (16SrVIII-A), which it 97.17–97.25 silico RFLP analysis amplicon using i PhyClassifier phytoplasmas have unique pattern (similarity coefficient below 0.85) is similar to ‘Ca luffae’. patterns confirmed vitro Nucleotide sequences are more variable than gene, namely tuf (tu-elongation factor), secA (partial translocation gene), partial ribosomal protein ( rp ) operon rps19-rpl22-rps3 ), produced phylogenetic trees branching tree. Sequence spacer region previous reports rrn interoperon heterogeneity for StLL, where rrnB encodes complete tRNA-Isoleucine rrnA does not. Together these results suggest Australian phytoplasma, according International Organization Mycoplasmology (IRPCM) recommendations. novel taxon stylosanthis’ proposed, strain potato crop Victoria, serving as reference (deposited Victorian Plant Pathology Herbarium VPRI 43683).

'Candidatus Phytoplasma pruni', a novel taxon associated with X-disease of stone fruits, Prunus spp.: multilocus characterization based on 16S rRNA, secY, and ribosomal protein genes.

X-disease is one of the most serious diseases known in peach (Prunus persica). Based on RFLP analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, peach X-disease phytoplasma strains from eastern and western United States and eastern Canada were classified in 16S rRNA gene RFLP group 16SrIII, subgroup A. Phylogenetic analyses of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that the X-disease phytoplasma strains formed a di...

Comparative genome analysis of "Candidatus Phytoplasma australiense" (subgroup tuf-Australia I; rp-A) and "Ca. Phytoplasma asteris" Strains OY-M and AY-WB.

The chromosome sequence of "Candidatus Phytoplasma australiense" (subgroup tuf-Australia I; rp-A), associated with dieback in papaya, Australian grapevine yellows in grapevine, and several other important plant diseases, was determined. The circular chromosome is represented by 879,324 nucleotides, a GC content of 27%, and 839 protein-coding genes. Five hundred two of these protein-coding genes...

'Candidatus Phytoplasma castaneae', a novel phytoplasma taxon associated with chestnut witches' broom disease.

In Korea, Japanese chestnut trees (Castanea crenata Sieb. and Zucc.) showing symptoms indicative of witches' broom disease, including abnormally small leaves and yellowing of young leaves, were examined. Since the symptoms were suggestive of a phytoplasma infection, tissues were assayed for phytoplasmas by PCR analysis using a pair of universal primers that amplify a 1.4-kbp phytoplasma 16S rDN...

Phytoplasma classification: Taxonomy based on 16S ribosomal gene, is it enough?

The discovery in 1967, of a new group of plant pathogens related to bacteria led to the finding of pleomorphic, wall-less prokaryotes in the phloem of many plant species affected by yellows-type diseases. Following the application of molecular technologies the phylogeny of these prokaryotes was resolved and led to the new trivial name of “phytoplasma” and to the designation of a new taxon named...

'Candidatus Phytoplasma brasiliense', a new phytoplasma taxon associated with hibiscus witches' broom disease.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is a valuable ornamental species widely planted in Brazil. Many plants are affected by witches' broom disease, which is characterized by excessive axillary branching, abnormally small leaves, and deformed flowers, symptoms that are characteristic of diseases attributed to phytoplasmas. A phytoplasma was detected in diseased Hibiscus by amplification of rRNA operon sequenc...
